Wellness, sports, relax in Fiemme and Fassa Valleys, Dolomites

Fiemme and Fassa Valleys certainly need no introduction: they are among the most suggestive, scenic and fascinating areas of Trentino and northern Italy.

From their strong traditions handed down from generation to generation, to the breathtaking landscapes characterized by the distinctive limestone rocks of the Dolomites, to the flora and fauna, there is also one aspect of Trentino that is perhaps not as well known to most people: spas and wellness tourism.

In a few years Trentino has managed to establish itself as one of the major Italian destinations for wellness centers, spas and thermal baths.

It is not by chance; some years ago the association Vita Nova was founded in order to gather the best wellness Hotels and Resorts in Trentino. In every spa or hotel you can find wonderful wellness areas, swimming pools and relax areas with high quality standards.

In the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys we spent four unforgettable days dedicated to comfort and outdoors activities, such as rafting and hiking, completed by staying at local hotels with a cozy and friendly atmosphere.

It’s difficult, if not impossible, not to relax in any of the Vitanova spas: sauna, Turkish bath, swimming pool, room of silence (for an absolute relax), tea area, massage area. Everything has been designed paying maximum attention to the finer details in order to ensure an unforgettable experience.

After a morning spent mountain biking, trekking, rafting or nordic walking, there is nothing better than spending few hours in the wellness center of your hotel, to relax and stretch your tired muscles (and mind).

Don’t miss the outdoor hot tub, drinking cocktails and viewing a breathtaking landscape “included in the price” before dinner.

In Trentino you’ll be spoilt for choice of outdoor activities to do: mountain biking, hiking, nordic walking, rafting, kayak, walking, just to name a few.

Our first adventure activity; rafting, a sport that was missing from my repertoire: with five fellow bloggers, we went rafting on the Avisio river that was formed from the glaciers of the Marmolada, definitely a unique and original way to enjoy the unspoiled nature and landscapes of Fiemme Valley.

Rafting on the Avisio river can be done by the whole family, even children, as there are no particularly difficult points; also, the experienced instructors and guides of Avisio Rafting guarantee an enjoyable experience, while offering the ability to record on video all the highlights of the descent. All necessary equipment is provided by the rafting center, including suits and shoes.

A more unique and unforgettable adventure is to “dive under a waterfall” of a stream, few meters away from the Avisio river: apart from the cold temperature of the water and the difficulty of breathing in the first 2 – 3 minutes while passing under the waterfall, the excitement and adrenaline that you get from being in such close contact with the forces of nature is difficult to explain.

The best part and, perhaps, the most exciting part of the whole experience is undoubtedly the dive in the water after passing under the waterfall: at first is a feeling of fear and anxiety when confronted by a drop off of four meters. Taking courage, you dive in as the fear disappears: you sink into the dark-blue icy water of the pool and to emerge a moment later. A slight current will then drag you to the edge of the pool.

Wellness trekking

An absolute novelty! It is to walk a path in the woods in silence, surrounded by pine and fir trees, and views of the beautiful landscape of the Fiemme Valley. At the end of the trek there is an outdoor relax area, surrounded by the peace and tranquility of the nature.

Afterwards a head and neck massage, while relaxing listening to the “sound of nature”, lying on the grass is priceless: you almost enter a new dimension, between dream and reality … and you run the risk (as happened to me) of falling into a deep sleep.

But awoken to a tray of local fresh fruits to be enjoyed in front of the breathtaking views of the Fiemme Valley.

  1. Absolutely stunning. I’m visiting the Dolomites next summer and can’t wait! Thinking I may need to check out one of those Vitanova hotels while there.

  2. You’ll love it, guaranteed. The hotels Vitanova are very nice, friendly people and a relaxed atmosfere. When you go, if we are in Italy, we can show you around.

  3. Excellent website you have here but I was curious if you knew of any discussion boards
that cover the same topics discussed in this article?

I’d really love to be a part of group where I can get opinions from other experienced individuals that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Kudos!
