That European feeling right in San Francisco

Whenever I feel serious Europe withdrawal, I can just walk out my front door and there is San Francisco. If visiting Europe busts your budget, you can simply book Cheap Flights to San Francisco & get the European feel right here.

From Chinatown and the Mission to North Beach and the French Quarter, every culture from around the world is represented in this compact city. And just like most European cities, San Francisco is easily walkable and we have a metro system that can get you most anywhere.

Yes, I do feel pretty lucky to live in this city and here are some of my favorite places to visit to overcome the European withdrawal.

LoveJoy’s Tea Room
I miss a pot of tea and scones from England like no other so that’s why I head to LoveJoy’s Tea Room in the Noe Valley neighborhood. They serve a traditional tea with scones, sandwiches, biscuits, and a steaming hot pot of tea. The shop is decorated with antique tables and chairs and bureaus with old books, china, and photos that instantly transport you across the pond.

North Beach Restaurant
I came to this restaurant, located in the heart of North Beach’s Little Italy, for a 50th  wedding anniversary. I was dining with a true Italian family and the restaurant was a reflection of them. We were seated at a long family style table with stone floors below us and a variety of meats hanging from the ceiling right above our heads. The food was delicious and authentic as if it came directly out of an oven in Tuscany.

Ferry Building Farmer’s Market

Food markets are the main attraction to me as soon as I arrive in a new city so it’s a good thing I have the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market to visit three times a week. On Saturdays, the market expands from it’s smaller version during the week and you can find everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to oysters, cheeses, and baguettes. Lunches of Vietnamese and Spanish cuisine are made fresh at some stalls and you can grab a plate and sit down by the water’s edge with an amazing view of the Bay Bridge.

Café de la Presse
I always have a craving for a café au lait and chocolate croissant and this is the place to satisfy my craving. In addition to croissants, they serve a full menu of genuine French cuisine all day long. It is a fond place for café-goers to come sit, read Le Monde or Paris Match, or people watch as it sits on the edge of Chinatown and the French Quarter. It is a perfect spot to get that Paris Sunday morning feeling.
