Everest expedition with National Geographic

We are always very excited and honoured to feature adventures from all over the world, especially awesome adventures organised by National Geographic magazine that so often are breaking the boundaries of exploration, science and human achievement. The May edition of National Geographic magazine for iPad includes a special “On Everest” Field Test section with real-time updates from an expedition to summit Mount Everest led by famed mountaineer Conrad Anker and photographer Cory Richards.

First woman to summit all 14 major peaks

Reaching the top of K2 on her fourth attempt, Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, a 40-year-old Austrian alpinist who resides in Germany, has become the first woman to summit all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks without using supplementary oxygen. Kaltenbrunner reached the top of K2, Earth’s second-tallest mountain, at 6:18 p.m. (local time) Tuesday, Aug. 23.
