When you want to go on holiday to Italy you are spoiled for choice in terms of destinations. If it is some relaxing on the sand that you want then the increasingly popular resort of Bibione is definitely a smart choice.

Sitting in the region of Veneto in the North East of the country, this is a terrific base for a beach holiday that also gives you the chance of some incredible day trips. Its strategic location means that you are only going to be a short distance away from a number of great things to do and see.

By choosing the right hotel with great facilities you will feel right at home here. For example, the welcoming Hotel Europa has a fine restaurant, a terrace, swimming pool, private beach, sports facilities and activities for kids to make your trip as memorable as possible.

Hit the Beach in Bibione

One of the main reasons that many tourists come here is to enjoy the 8 kilometres of stunning coastline. There are plenty of options here for just lying out on a sunbed, taking a dip in the water or getting something to eat and drink.

May through to September is the best time of year for hitting the beach and it is when most visitors come here. There is even a dog-friendly beach called Pluto’s Beach that is perfect if you are taking your four legged friend away on holiday with you.

Try Out Some Sports

This area is also hugely popular with sports fans who want to enjoy some of their favourite activities in a memorable setting. Beach volleyball is a sport that you will see played a lot in Bibione, with intense competitions and friendly jousts taking place pretty much all the time.

Other sports that you might want to enjoy here include beach tennis, bocce and cycling. If you like to add some action and adventure to your beach holiday then it is a terrific place to get out on the water for some thrilling water sports too.

Make the Day Trip to Venice

Who could resist making a short day trip to one of the planet’s most fascinating and attractive cities? The famous city of canals and bridges is just a little over an hour away from Bibione.

Here, you can enjoy the unique setting and long list of attractions as you take a trip on a gondola, cross the Bridge of Sighs and soak up the atmosphere in St Mark’s Square.

Check Out Trieste and Udine

Venice isn’t the only great place you can visit on a day trip from here. Trieste is a fine, historic city that has magnificent sights such as Miramare Castle and St. Justus Cathedral. Again, you can get here from Bibione in a little over an hour.

Udine is another fine option for getting out for a day trip. This attractive city has some beautiful churches and palaces for you to explore, as well as the imposing Castle of Udine.

Visit Portogruaro and Concordia

This is the closest option for a day trip from your base by the beach. Not everyone has heard of Portogruaro and Concordia but it is a tremendous area with a lot of archaeological activity uncovering its long, rich history recently.

Thursday morning is a good time to visit, as this is when the weekly open air market takes place. Then there is the leaning bell tower of the Cathedral of St Andrew and the Tower of San Gottardo among other delights here.

All in all, Bibione is a great spot to enjoy a varied break, with some time relaxing on the beach mixed in with sports and a few unforgettable day trips to magical places nearby.
