A British girl falls in love with her very own Italian stallion in London. We tried settling down into a traditional life, purchasing a home together and doing the 9-5 job, but slowly hating it. A round the world trip in 2005 sparked our wanderlust and we both realised our true passion in life – was to travel. So the following years involved working to travel, with the ultimate aim of combining the two and becoming digital nomads.
In 2010 during a six month trip to South America, Thinking Nomads was born, with the main aim to share our adventures inspiring others to travel and see the wonderful world we live in, documenting our own adventures along with and other passionate travel writers.
In 2011 we settled down in North Italy and got married. Marco launched Non Solo Turisti an Italian travel blog, which has now grown to be one of the No 1 travel blogs in Italy.
In 2013 life got a little more complicated with the arrival of our daughter Isabella and two years later her sister Maya. However, our travels didn’t stop when we became a family, we travelled frequently within Europe with both our daughters, collaborating with many destinations, hotels and tour companies.
In early 2017 we had itchy feet again, an urge to take on another global adventure as family and be nomadic once more. Marco and I have never been ones to shy away from a challenge, we planned it and set a date. Of course, feeling excited and a little daunted by the prospect of travelleing full time with our 2 and 4 year old daughters.
We packed up our home in Italy and in September 2017 set off on an adventure of a lifetime to South East Asia. This trip turned into an epic two year adventure taking us to Bali, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, Italy, France, UK and Austria, most of the trip is documented on the blog and our youtube channel.
After two years of nomadic travel, in September 2019 feeling a little travel weary we settled down in central Vietnam for 2 years, living the simple life between the ocean and the paddy fields as expats. During this time, the global pandemic hit and we felt a little uneasy staying in Vietnam.
In June 2021 we returned to the UK to live full time. Starting a new chapter, a life more grounded and returning to our roots in the South of England. We will endeavour to travel as much as possible, but with our daughters in full time education we are bound to the school holidays. Also with many travel restrictions still in place, we will be sticking to short trips within the UK, for now.
It feels great to be starting a new chapter in the UK, putting down roots, being closer to family and friends and having plenty of opportunities to take a mini adventures closer to home.
