Where To Stay in Singapore: Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore Review

After a long flight from London to Singapore we wanted to kick start our Asian travel adventure, staying in the heart of Singapore at Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore.

We were excited to be hosted by Oakwood to review their two bedroom apartment. Staying in an apartment has so many benefits for us as family, especially when we are all trying to get over an 8 hour time difference and jet leg is effecting our mood and appetite.

The beauty of Oakwood premier is that you have all the usual amenities and that services that you would expect from a luxury hotel, plus all the additional services and amenities that come with serviced apartments.

The Restaurant

Breakfast was included in our 3 night stay, which was a buffet style including continental, english and asian delights to suit every taste, you could choose a wide range of items, it was great to have a big choice.

After living in Italy for 7 years, I will freely admit I have become a bit of coffee snob, and often the machine coffee at buffet style breakfasts just doesn’t make the cut. However I am pleased to report that at Oakwood Premier have great tasting coffee. There is a manual Nespresso machine that delivers, a great espresso, cappuccino or Americano. The machine uses a capsule system which allows you choose your intensity and flavour.

If eggs are you thing in the morning you can order them any which way you want with breakfast chef on hand to cook them fresh for you. The restaurant is also open for Lunch and dinner with a great selection of western and asian dishes. Make sure you book in advance as there are many events taking place.

The Apartment

The apartment we were staying in was a fully equipped two double bedroom apartment with kitchen, dining area and lounge. As we just landed in Singapore after a 12hr flight from London, the apartment was a perfect environment for us to rest and adjust to the 8 hr time difference. Anyway that has travelled with kids, can understand the real benefit of having another room to hideaway in when the whole family is a little grouchy and tired.

We also took full advantage of having a kitchen, as we often didn’t feel hungry at meal times so we would choose to have a late snack in the apartment. The kitchen is stocked with cutlery, china and glassware, and all cooking utensil, so if you felt like you were able to make a three course meal.

The apartment also came with a Singapore cell phone with data on, this came in really handy when we ventured out, we took the phone to use google maps and work out our transportation options.

Also in the apartment is a washer, dryer and Iron, so all laundry needs are covered.

The building and apartments are all brand new and expertly furnished with minimalist interior design, that creates a both relaxing and elegant environment.

Amenties

With two kids under the age of five we did spend a lot of time in the pool, which is huge and has great view towards the port. Perfect for the kids to play in while we relaxed and sunbathed. The cocktail bar overlooks the outdoor pool, so you can enjoy an outdoor sunset cocktail whilst taking in the view.

There is also well equipped gym which is included in your stay plus, if you are feeling really energetic, there are even Aqua Spinning Classes that you can join.

The Location

The locator of oakwood premier was perfect for us, as we wanted to visit the Gardens By the Bay and do a little shopping. The transport links both for the bus or MRT are right outside the building, so it was really convenient.

Our first evening in Singapore we were lucky enough to be visiting at the time of Diwali the Hindu religious festival, so we headed to little India to get a taster of the festivities and see the decorations. Singapore really is such a melting pot of cultures it was wonderful to see a little slice of India in the heart of Singapore.

The Gardens by the Bay have been on our bucket list for a while, so we had to visit them on this trip, as Oakwood Premier is so close, only short bus ride, we heard there for quick dinner and to see the light show to music at 8.45pm.

There was a great family atmosphere, and the girls really enjoyed the light show. We didn’t realise how big the gardens are and would like to revisit in the day time to visit the whole park including the flower dome.

Thinking Nomads Verdict

Overall we had a fantastic time at Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore, the facilities and service was top notch. For us as family with young kids a serviced apartment is a perfect environment as we are not forced to eat out and enjoy a home from home whilst we adjusted to the Asian time zone. The location of Oakwood premier is perfect for both access to the city centre and to the main shopping centres.

We would recommend Oakwood for both a short and longer stay in Singapore, you can enjoy the best of both worlds at Oakwood the space of a luxury apartment combined with 5* hotels services and amenities.
