Christmas at Covent Garden

If you’re looking for the quintessential English Christmas, then Londons Covent Garden provides the perfect Yuletide backdrop. This quaint corner of London is full of amazing architecture, delightful indoor markets and quirky shops.

The decorations are a festive treat, with lights twinkling throughout the Piazza, a sixty-foot decorated tree and a topiary reindeer. Special attractions include the annual Covent Garden Christmas installation. This year’s structure is a huge snow globe, which features major London landmarks built from Lego, including the London Eye and Covent Garden itself. Even Santa puts in an appearance, flying above the magnificent skyline.

Eating is easy and you can choose from pubs, cafes, delis and restaurants where you can try everything from Danish cuisine through to Sushi. If you want to help yourself to something warming without leaving the Piazza, pop into the pop-up Christmas Kreperie and indulge in crepes and champagne while snuggling among sheepskin rugs.

Spend some time in the world-famous indoor markets, the East Colonnade Market, the Jubilee Market and the Apple Market. Pick up some last-minute gifts in the Apple Market, which has a dazzling array of antiques, art, jewellery and fashion items. Or, swing by the East Colonnade Market where you can find lovely hand-crafted soaps, clothes and sweets. The Jubilee Market is a moveable feast and there is something different there throughout the week.

Finally, expect to be entertained as you explore as there are street entertainers galore. Watch out for world-class acrobats, jugglers, mimes and musicians.
