Family Holidays – Bibione, a Child-Friendly Italian Destination

Since our kid came entered in our life, our travel lust had to adapt to a little child’s pace and desires, and beside our wish for exploring we grew eager to watch him enjoy the little discoveries at hand. Some time on the beach has become undeniable: how could I not be happy while the kiddo laughs and plays with the sand? But beside his desires there are also ours, and so the wish list gets longer and longer…

As a travel-mum, I would like some green and nature, but with all the needed child-friendly features; discovering the cultural heritages, but without having to do any stunts with the stroller; clean water and safe sea bottom; a close spot for the weekend… I know, it’s never enough, but luckily I found a few surprising destinations on my journeys.

Bibione - Italy

Lately I had one of these surprising encounters in Bibione, a small town in Norhern Italy which turns into one of the most popular Italian beaches during summer holidays. On my visit there I found untouched nature right beyond the golden beach, with naturalistic oasis full of wild animals and hundreds of different kinds of birds, while just in front of the kiddo-friendly hotels there are dunes and pinewoods, where you can take a walk or a trip by bike.

In Bibione, beside the sea and the sun, there is another kind of relax to be found in the spa – child-friendly! – while the inland offers beautiful ancient villages on the strada dei vini – the “wine road” – stretching from Bibione to Concordia Sagitta, Summaga and Cordovado, one of the most beautiful little villages in Italy.

And not too far lies Venice, with its enchanted channels. You can reach it even through the sea, with one of the many fares starting from the lagoon. And even closer is Portogruaro, also called “the little mainland Venice”, with its Renaissance palaces and its charming weekly market.

To cut it short, Bibione really is a great child-friendly destination for family holidays, framed by green nature and rich history, an ideal spot of Italy to enjoy the sweetness of the sea and the comfort of the Italian warm welcome.

I am a backpacker, I love the East, its food and its deep traditions. After becoming a parent I decided I wanted to grow up my child as a little traveller and in my blog I offer a few ideas to parents who want to discover the world with their children.
