Beaches near Barcelona

When the city gets to hectic and you need to go a little further from the commotion, you can head to one of Barcelona’s nearby beaches. With plenty to choose from and their easy accessibility, these locations are great for an afternoon adventure

Just north of Barcelona, Vilassar de Mar is located. With white sand and calm waters this is a beach made for a relaxing day. There are plenty of restaurants to enjoy a meal during your adventure. The beach is easily accessible from the Barcelona city center, Plaza Catalonia, where you take a train to Vilassar de Mar.

Also north and easily accessible by train is Sant Pol de Mar. This small town is built around tourism so they will cater to all your daily needs. There is handicapped access, restaurants to enjoy, and plenty of space to enjoy the sun and sea.

Barcelona's Beaches

Castelldefels is a beach town in the Barcelona metropolitan. The beach is located just south west of the city about 20 kilometers. The each is long and beautiful and during the summer and warm months, many of Barcelona’s city dwellers head south to this 5 kilometer beach to relax and soak up the warm weather. Four different bus lines offer access to Castelldefels and the RENFE train stop here as well, so a visit to this beach is made accompanied with simple transportation.

Vilanova i la Geltrú is situated 40 kilometers south of Barcelona, this once fishermen’ port is now a beach city. This small town is known for being a romantic escape from the big city.

Sitges is a beach town located 35 kilometers outside of Barcelona, it is famous for its Carnival celebrations and film festival. There are actually 17 beaches in Sitges and plenty of hotels and resorts with high ratings if you were interested in an overnight trip. There are also plenty of restaurants, sites and activities to keep you busy on your adventure.

  2. I this the good ones are Castelldefels, Sitges and San Pol de Mar. You should go to Montagt nord, which is very near to Barcelona and is a great beach with deep blue waters and good environment, as well as many people. And the beach between Caldes d’Estrac and Arenys de Mar is also a very good one, but not for every people such it’s a nudist beach…
