Like most other cities in India, the city of Mysore has over the years been gradually transforming into to a modern city but that hasn’t resulted in the city and its populace detaching itself from his rich traditional and cultural heritage.

Mysore – A Popular Tourist Attraction

Mysore Palace

The city of Mysore is a hugely popular tourist destination attracting thousands of visitors from both within and outside the country. Visitors get to explore a myriad of royal buildings and palaces, beautifully laid gardens, scores of temples and several big and small heritage structures.

The beautiful and imposing palatial structures built in Dravidian-style architecture even today exhibits the opulence and grandeur of the royal family when they ruled the state of Mysore. One gets to instantly get a glimpse of the arts, music, design, sculpture and other work of artistry that flourished during the rule of the royals.

Other than the palaces and heritage structures, you can visit the Goddess Chamundi temple on the Chamundi Hills which also incidentally happens to be a prominent religious destination for the locals and people from other parts of the country. Next up is the KRS dam and the famous Brindavan Gardens that is popular for its colourfully illuminated fountains.
